Overview
The Basic-level course is designed to introduce the core grammar structure, which forms the foundation of Classical music. It includes providing a deeper understanding of swaras and Taala through various creative exercises, which aid in further advanced exploration of Raag.
Objectives
- Learn the seven swaras and their relative positions by learning different Alankars, Swara progressions, Paltaas (basic rhythm patterns, and speeds), Jantiswaras, and musical elements.
- Voice culture - breathing exercises, voice dynamics (loud/soft), pitch (high/low).
- Improving projection of voice clarity in singing, preventing shaking of voice.
- Bringing appropriate expressions & modulations in the voice.
- Learning vowel sounds, Kanswaras, Meend, Khatka, Murki, Merukhand etc.
- Ability to sing with accompaniment.
- Developing writing skills required for music - Swara mapping and taaLa.
- To sing all varieties of paltaas with a perfect sense of sur, laya, and taala.
- Understanding and reciting all taalas - bol, taali, khaali, counts, and other taalamahiti.
